In the late '50s and early '60s, migraines were pretty well identified as an excess serotonin problem, and LSD turned out to be counteracting the serotonin and curing the headaches. Because of the ideology, the government demonizing the hallucinogens, which were identified as anti-serotonin drugs, the pharmacy interests in antidepressants, for example, started to emphasize that they were not going in the direction of the hallucinogenic drugs. So they emphasized that serotonin was a beneficial thing psychologically
